Bully, from Nashville (USA) fronted by Alicia Bognanno. Play sort of punchy Indie punk/garage rock/grungey stuff. Haven’t seen them live, but did have tickets for a gig of theirs in Oxford a year or two back. Parenting/life got in the way at the last minute, it’s a regret.

Wild Nothing – Gemini (2010)
Wild Nothing are an indie rock/ dream pop, sometimes a bit shoegazey band, fronted by Jack Tatum from Virginia, USA. I’ve seen them a couple of times down in the big smoke, one of which was a lovely weekend away with a hotel on Camden Lock and diner for dinner pre gig. Massive cheesecake.
Peach Pit – You and Your Friends (2020)

Alkaline Trio, a three piece (surprisingly!) from Chicago. Dark, gothy pop/punk. Saw them in Birmingham and a little like The Thermals (which is the best gig I’ve ever seen) they bashed out hits relentlessly for 90 minutes. Also been one of the toughest to whittle down to 10…
#tegan&sarashits
Tegan & Sara (Quin), identical twin sisters from Canada. Indie pop ditties is their game. Saw them at The Roundhouse in London a few years back, and I think again somewhere else.
The Hidden Cameras – The Smell Of Our Own (2003)
The Hidden Cameras, joyous indie pop from Canada. Fronted by singer-song writer Joel Gibb who describes their music as “Gay Church Folk Music” and it is very gay, just take a look at some of those song titles! Genuinely one of my all time favorite albums.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – S/T (2005)
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Indie Pop/rock with off kilter vocals from Philadelphia/New York. This is their first album, released initially by themselves in 2005.

Squeeze, Londons own. I only ever really knew them for being the band Jools Holland tickled the ivories in and the song Cool For Cats, naturally I assumed they were some sort of novelty band and despite having Cool For Cats as my ringtone for a few years never listened to anything else of theirs.Continue reading “#squeezeshits”
#thenationalshits
The National, straight out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Matt Berninger fronted with two sets of brothers making up the rest of the band. Indie rock stuff really. Saw them at The Irish Centre in Birmingham, a venue much like an old social club with tables and chairs round the edge of the “dance floor”. It wasContinue reading “#thenationalshits”
